From Charlie Brown trees to stately fir trees, every Christmas tree is beautiful, in its own right.
Every Christmas tree has its own personality. Some are elegant, some are snowy, some are classic, and some are just plain fun.
I searched through dozens of pencil trees and picked 21 favorites, each one special in its own way. Many of these trees are available in different heights, and if they are, I’ll let you know.
No matter how small your space, you can still have a beautiful Christmas tree.
So refill your coffee, settle in, and let’s start the countdown. 🎄☕️

#21 Shareconn 7-Foot Pre-Lit RGB Pencil Christmas Tree

We’re starting the countdown with a tree that’s all about the lights.
The Shareconn 7-Foot Pre-Lit RGB Pencil Christmas Tree gives you a slim tree with an enormous range of lighting possibilities. It features 16 different color options, along with multiple effects, brightness controls, and a timer.
That’s really what makes this one stand out. You can completely change the personality of your Christmas tree without changing a single ornament.
At only about 29 inches wide, it fits beautifully into a small footprint while still giving you the height of a full Christmas tree. It’s also surprisingly lightweight at around five pounds, making it easier to set up, take down, and store.
The flame-retardant PVC branches add another practical touch.
If you love changing your Christmas colors throughout the season, this one is a fun way to start our countdown.

#20 Nafresh Real-Touch Norfolk Pine Christmas Tree

Number 20 is completely different.
The Nafresh Artificial Norfolk Pine has the soft, graceful appearance of a real Norfolk pine and comes in 3-foot, 4-foot, and 5-foot heights.
The five-foot version is only about 25.6 inches wide, making it a beautiful choice for a small nook, hallway, staircase, porch, or entryway.
What I especially like is that it doesn’t have to look like an outdoor shrub. Decorate it for Christmas and it becomes an elegant little Christmas tree.
The real-touch branches are soft and adjustable, and the tree comes in a simple black pot. The materials are designed to withstand wind, rain, and sunlight, so it can also work outdoors. You can add pebbles or stones inside the pot for additional stability.
And here’s a little Mama memory. When I was a teenager, we sometimes used clear fishing line, weaving it through the branches and around the trunk to help secure outdoor Christmas trees against winter weather.
Simple, practical, and almost invisible.

#19 HOMCOM 6-Foot Pre-Lit Slim Noble Fir

The HOMCOM 6-Foot Pre-Lit Slim Noble Fir is an Amazon’s Choice tree with a classic dark-green Christmas look.
It comes pre-lit with 200 warm white LED lights and has 390 branch tips. But one of my favorite things about it is the size.
This tree stands six feet tall while measuring only about 22 inches wide.
You get all the height of a traditional Christmas tree while keeping a wonderfully small footprint. There’s still plenty of room for presents underneath, and you don’t feel as though you’ve had to rearrange the entire room just to celebrate Christmas.
The tree comes in three sections with a detachable base, and you’ll want to take your time fluffing it to achieve that full Noble Fir shape.
Sometimes you don’t need a Christmas tree to reinvent Christmas. You just want something classic, warm, pretty, and narrow enough to fit the room you actually live in.
This one does exactly that.

#18 ClouFairy Pre-Lit Blue Spruce Pencil Christmas Tree

You know Mama had to put a Blue Spruce in here somewhere.
The ClouFairy Blue Spruce Pencil Christmas Tree brings that beautiful blue-green color of a traditional Blue Spruce into a much slimmer shape.
This one is personal for me. It reminds me of the Blue Spruce we had in our front yard when I was a little girl. I’ve always loved Blue Spruce trees, and I think you’ll agree, this one is beautiful.
The branches combine PE and PVC foliage for texture and realism, with 1,205 branch tips and 300 warm white lights on the six-foot pre-lit version.
It also comes in a remarkable range of heights, from smaller trees all the way up to nine feet, and you can choose pre-lit or unlit versions.
That means you can get the classic Blue Spruce look whether you’re decorating a small room or working with much taller ceilings.
It’s a lovely example of how a pencil tree can still have a distinct species and personality.

#17 National Tree Company Kingswood Fir Slim White Christmas Tree

Now number 17 is a little different.
You knew Mama had to include a white Christmas tree somewhere in this countdown.
The National Tree Company Kingswood Fir Slim Tree gives you that clean, snowy-white Christmas look without flocking. It’s bright, elegant, and completely different from a traditional green tree.
I have a soft spot for white trees.
After I had cancer, my mom gave me a little three-foot white Christmas tree because I couldn’t put up a large tree that year. I decorated it with white lights on white wire and red, silver, and gold ornaments.
It was absolutely gorgeous.
That’s what I love about a white tree. You can create an entirely different look every year just by changing the decorations.
The linked Kingswood Fir is pre-lit with clear lights and has a wonderfully slim silhouette.
And if you’d like to add more lights without dark wires showing against those white branches, I’ve included both clear and multicolored light sets on white wire.

#16 HAPPYGRILL 6-Foot Pre-Lit Silver Pencil Christmas Tree

Now this one is pure vintage Christmas.
If you grew up in the 1950s, ’60s, or even into the ’70s, chances are you’ve seen one of those fabulous silver Christmas trees.
The HAPPYGRILL 6-Foot Pre-Lit Silver Pencil Tree brings that mid-century look back in a modern, easy-to-use version.
It has 790 branch tips and 300 warm white LED lights, and even without ornaments, the silver branches shimmer beautifully.
And who remembers the old rotating color wheels?
Those wheels slowly washed silver trees in red, blue, green, and yellow light. Some families decorated their silver trees in all blue ornaments. Others chose red, gold, or left the silver branches almost bare and simply let the changing colors do the work.
The tree also comes in several heights and alternate styles, including green versions, pine-cone versions, and flocked options.
If you love vintage Christmas decorating, this one is just plain fun.

#15 Naomi Home Salzburg Frosted Slim Christmas Tree

The Naomi Home Salzburg 6.5-Foot Frosted Slim Christmas Tree gives you a little snow, a little sparkle, and plenty of traditional green.
At only about 30 inches wide, it creates a full-height Christmas-tree moment without demanding much floor space.
The Salzburg features 864 branch tips and 250 warm lights, along with frosted white tips that give it the look of a tree touched by winter rather than completely buried in flocking.
That’s an important distinction if you want snowy branches but still love seeing plenty of green.
The frosted tips also give ornaments a beautiful backdrop. Silver looks elegant, red gives you instant traditional Christmas, and icy blues would create an entirely different winter look.
This is one of those trees that starts with enough personality to look pretty undecorated but still gives you plenty of room to make it your own.

#14 Yaheetech 6-Foot Pre-Lit Frosted Pencil Christmas Tree

Number 14 is for anyone who would like the tree to do some of the decorating for them.
The Yaheetech 6-Foot Pre-Lit Frosted Pencil Tree comes with 618 branch tips, 200 warm lights, 31 real pine cones, and 31 bunches of holly berries already incorporated into the design.
Honestly, you could fluff this tree, plug it in, put presents underneath, and call it Christmas.
At only about 28 inches wide, it’s also a true pencil tree.
The pine cones, berries, light frosting, and warm lights give it enough visual interest that ornaments become optional rather than necessary.
That’s especially nice if you’re short on time, don’t own a mountain of ornaments, don’t enjoy decorating a tree, or simply want something beautiful without turning setup into an all-day production.
Another bonus is that the top branch is reinforced to better support a tree topper.
And once Christmas is over, remove the obviously Christmas-specific decorations around it and the frosted greenery and pine cones can carry you through part of winter.

#13 Best Choice Products Pre-Lit White Pencil Christmas Tree

Here’s another white tree, but with a slightly different personality.
The Best Choice Products Pre-Lit White Pencil Christmas Tree gives you a completely blank Christmas canvas.
Against white branches, everything pops.
Red and gold create a classic Christmas look. Blue and silver become icy and elegant. Pastels become whimsical. Jewel tones become dramatic.
The linked listing is for the 7.5-foot version, and this tree family is also offered in multiple heights.
Best Choice Products also offers related pencil trees in unusual colors such as black and pink, which can be surprisingly beautiful if traditional green simply isn’t your thing.
The warm incandescent lights against the white branches create a particularly lovely glow.
This is one of those trees that can look completely different every year without changing the tree itself.

#12 Best Choice Products Pre-Lit Potted Flocked Pencil Tree

Number 12 may look familiar if you’ve seen some of my other Christmas-tree favorites.
The Best Choice Products 6-Foot Pre-Lit Potted Flocked Pencil Christmas Tree has a beautiful snowy finish, a clean white pot, and 250 twinkling LED lights.
And Mama loves a twinkle.
The lighting includes multiple functions, including steady-on, twinkle, and slow fade.
The tree stands six feet tall including the pot and is only around 29 inches wide, so you get height without bulk.
I particularly like the flocking because it doesn’t bury every inch of green. The branches look more as though snow has naturally collected along them.
The white pot also gives the tree a finished appearance without requiring you to hide a metal stand beneath a skirt or collar.
Put one beside a staircase, fireplace, or entryway. A pair flanking a front door is beautiful too.
And this is another tree that’s pretty enough to leave undecorated.

#11 Vickerman 7.5-Foot Utica Flocked Slim Tree

Number 11 is one of my favorites.
The Vickerman Utica Flocked Slim Tree has that tall, snowy, slightly Nordic appearance that makes you think of a tree brought in from the woods after a fresh snowfall.
It stands 7.5 feet tall and about 43 inches wide, so it’s wider than our true pencil trees but still beautifully slim for its height.
And this one comes unlit, which I actually consider a feature.
I like putting my own lights on a Christmas tree.
An unlit tree gives you freedom. Warm white lights one year. Multicolored the next. Vintage-style lights if you’re feeling nostalgic.
You’re not married to one lighting scheme for the life of the tree.
The flocking is especially pretty because the deep green still shows beneath heavier patches of snow, giving the branches depth rather than turning the entire tree white.
Sometimes you really don’t have to gild the Christmas lily.
A beautiful strand of lights may be all this tree needs.

And Now We’ve Reached the Top 10
Now we’re getting serious.
#10 National Tree Company Carolina Pine Slim Christmas Tree

The National Tree Company 6.5-Foot Pre-Lit Carolina Pine Slim Christmas Tree is a classic.
It comes pre-lit with 350 clear lights, and if one bulb burns out, the remaining lights stay on.
The tree is only about 29 inches wide, giving you the familiar shape of a traditional Carolina pine without the massive footprint of a full-width tree.
One thing I always recommend with artificial trees is taking the time to shape them properly.
National Tree Company recommends spending roughly 45 to 60 minutes opening and arranging the branches. Don’t rush it.
Step back, look at the tree, fluff some more, and keep working until the shape comes alive.
National Tree Company is a long-established, family-run American Christmas company, which is another reason I enjoy including their trees.
And when I saw the star topper used in one of their photos, I knew it looked familiar.
I own a very similar Kurt Adler Bethlehem Star myself, purchased back in January 2022.

#9 Puleo International 6.5-Foot Pre-Lit Slim Aspen Fir

The Puleo International Slim Aspen Fir has a quiet, elegant beauty.
It features 760 realistic branch tips and 350 clear lights, with a shape that feels slightly Nordic and wonderfully natural.
At around 39 inches wide, it gives you more fullness than our narrowest pencil trees while still keeping a streamlined silhouette.
Honestly, it’s lovely even without ornaments.
Add a simple tree skirt, tuck a few presents underneath, turn on the lights, and the room already feels like Christmas.
Puleo International is a fourth-generation family company with more than 70 years in the Christmas-tree business, and this tree includes a five-year tree warranty and two-year light warranty.
It’s also made with family- and pet-friendly materials.
Around here, that earns Pasha’s Paw Print Seal of Approval.
At this point, Pasha is practically in the Quality Control Department.

#8 Puleo International Slim Fraser Fir

The Puleo International 6.5-Foot Pre-Lit Slim Fraser Fir gives you a traditional Fraser Fir appearance in a slimmer silhouette.
It comes pre-lit with 350 UL-listed clear lights, and the tree has more than 1,100 branch tips, which helps create that lush Fraser Fir appearance.
The 6.5-foot version measures around 40 inches wide, so it’s a nice choice if you have a little more room than a true pencil tree allows but still don’t want the bulk of a traditional full-width tree.
The Fraser Fir family is also available in several heights, making it useful for everything from smaller rooms to spaces with dramatic ceilings.
Like the other Puleo trees in this countdown, it offers straightforward assembly and strong warranty coverage.
This is one of those trees that proves “slim” doesn’t have to mean sparse.

#7 Best Choice Products Aspen Noble Fir

Number seven is a bit of a chameleon.
The Best Choice Products Lighted Aspen Noble Fir combines flocked branches with warm white and multicolored LED lighting, and the tree offers multiple lighting functions.
That means you can change the mood without changing the ornaments.
Warm white gives you that elegant Christmas-card glow.
Switch to multicolor and suddenly you’re back in the Christmas mornings of childhood.
The tree has a slightly open, natural Nordic shape, and I especially love how pretty it looks even when the lights are off.
It comes in an impressive range of heights, from smaller versions all the way up to towering trees for high ceilings.
Best Choice Products also offers related versions in unexpected colors, including black and pink.
Traditional Christmas one year, something completely different the next.
That’s a lot of personality in one tree family.

#6 Best Choice Products Flocked Pencil Christmas Tree

Now we’re getting seriously skinny.
The Best Choice Products Flocked Pencil Christmas Tree combines a narrow silhouette with snowy branches and warm white lighting.
The tree family comes in several heights, and the six-foot version we featured in the video measured only about 29 inches wide.
That’s a true space saver.
It tucks neatly into those little corners that are just waiting for some Christmas magic, and you get the height of a Christmas tree without the bulk.
There are also different lighting and color versions available.
Want white and multicolored lights? There’s an option for that.

#5 Balsam Hill Norwegian Grand Fir

Number five takes us straight to the European countryside.
The Balsam Hill Norwegian Grand Fir has a stately, slender silhouette inspired by wooded European landscapes.
Its branches have that slightly open, old-world shape rather than looking perfectly manicured from top to bottom.
The foliage uses Balsam Hill’s Classic Needle construction to create the traditional look of fir foliage, and this tree family is available in different heights and lighting configurations.
If you love putting on your own lights, an unlit version gives you complete freedom to change the tree from year to year.
If you’d rather skip that job, pre-lit versions are available too.
Balsam Hill also includes thoughtful extras with many of its trees, including a premium stand with no-scratch feet, protective fluffing gloves, and a storage bag for the off-season.
No wrestling your beautiful Christmas tree back into a cardboard box being held together with packing tape and optimism.
This is elegant European Christmas in a space-conscious silhouette.

#4 Goplus Pre-Lit Flocked Pencil Christmas Tree

When you see number four, you’ll understand exactly why this tree made my list.
The Goplus 6-Foot Pre-Lit Flocked Pencil Christmas Tree combines several different foliage textures, including green and snow-covered branches, with 60 natural pine cones.
The six-foot version includes 671 branch tips and 280 warm white LED lights.
The different types of foliage give this tree wonderful depth. Some branches are green, others are lightly frosted, and some look more heavily covered in snow.
Then the pine cones break up the texture and make it feel even more natural.
At the time I was putting this list together, the six-foot version was under $80, which made the finished look especially impressive for the price.
And this is another tree that looks dramatically better once it’s placed in a room.
It doesn’t look apologetically skinny.
It looks intentionally tall, wintry, and elegant.
Shop the Goplus Flocked Pencil Christmas Tree:

#3 Puleo International Potted Flocked Arctic Fir

Number three is easily one of my favorite trees in every size they make.
The Puleo International Potted Flocked Arctic Fir is the larger sibling of a smaller version I already loved.
The six-foot version has an extraordinary 1,325 dense branch tips, 120 warm white lights, and a footprint of only about 24 inches.
Two feet.
That’s a genuine pencil tree.
The flocking is another reason I love it. The tree isn’t buried under artificial snow. You still see the shape and color of the fir underneath, giving the branches the appearance of being freshly kissed by snow.
And because it comes already set in that rustic birch-look pot, you don’t have a wide metal stand spreading across the floor.
The Arctic Fir is available in several heights, including a smaller version and a taller 7.5-foot option.
It’s made with family- and pet-friendly materials and carries Puleo’s strong warranty coverage.
Honestly, this is one you could leave almost completely undecorated.
The tree itself is the decoration.

#2 Best Choice Products Partially Frosted Pencil Christmas Tree

Number two has what I call an early winter look.
Instead of being completely flocked, this Best Choice Products pencil tree lets plenty of rich green show through beneath a light frosting.
It looks almost like the first snow of the season, when winter is just beginning to settle into the branches.
The linked 7.5-foot version includes 350 lights, 1,075 frosted tips, and 64 pine cones.
And the tree family is available in several heights, so there are options for both smaller rooms and much taller ceilings.
Here’s something else I love about this one.
You could put it up before Thanksgiving without feeling as though you’re rushing the Christmas season.
Don’t add ornaments yet.
Turn on the warm lights, leave the frosted branches and pine cones natural, and it simply looks like late fall beginning to turn into winter.
Then Thanksgiving passes, the ornament boxes come out, and the same tree becomes Christmas.
Take your time fluffing this one too. Give yourself 45 minutes to an hour, put on some Christmas music, pour something good, and make a night of it.
Artificial trees need shaping. That’s how you get them from “just came out of a box” to the tree you fell in love with in the pictures.

🥇 #1 Best Choice Products Frosted Scotch Pine Pencil Christmas Tree

And we made it to Number One.
This one is a little personal for me.
Scotch pines have always had a special place in my heart. They were my father’s favorite Christmas tree.
When I saw this beautiful frosted Scotch Pine from Best Choice Products, I knew it belonged on the list.
What I love is that the frosting doesn’t hide the tree.
You still see that beautiful blue-green Scotch Pine color underneath, with light frost catching the tips and natural-looking pine cones tucked throughout the branches.
It feels woodsy rather than snowy.
The six-foot version is only about 27.5 inches wide, barely over two feet.
So you get the height and presence of a full Christmas tree without surrendering half your living room to get it.
And this tree comes in 6-foot, 7.5-foot, 9-foot, and 12-foot heights, along with both frosted and plain-green versions.
The lighting is another huge reason it took my Number One spot.
You get warm white and multicolored LED lights, plus nine different lighting functions.
Want elegant Christmas-card Christmas?
Warm white.
Want the colorful Christmas you remember from childhood?
Multicolor.
Same tree.
It also uses a convenient quick-connect system, so you’re not digging through branches trying to find electrical connections between sections.
One customer described wanting a tree with enough drama to be eye-catching, but narrow enough that she didn’t have to trip over it between rooms.
I think that sums up the entire reason pencil trees are wonderful.
You shouldn’t feel as though you’re settling for a smaller version of Christmas.
You should simply get Christmas in a shape that fits your home.
And like Number Two, this Scotch Pine could easily go up before Thanksgiving.
Leave off the ornaments, turn on those warm white lights, and enjoy the pine cones and lightly frosted branches as an early-winter tree.
Then when you’re ready for Christmas, decorate it however you like.
That’s why this is my Number One.
Different heights. Frosted or green. Pine cones. A narrow footprint. Warm white or multicolor lights. Nine lighting functions. Easy assembly.
It can be quiet and elegant, colorful and nostalgic, rustic and woodsy, or completely dressed for Christmas.
And Dad?
I think you would’ve liked this one.
